EBooks are the Best Way for Introverts to Make Money Posted on By Unmarketable Let’s cut through the noise for a second. I’m not a guru. I don’t have a team. I don’t spend thousands on ads. And no, I don’t wake up at 5 a.m., journal my intentions, and do yoga before writing. I sell eBooks. I’ve been doing this since about 2023. Honestly, it’s probably the easiest thing I’ve ever done. Why? Because I enjoy it. So I can’t say that I do it only for the money (although that’s a very nice perk). The problem with working online, is that so many people do it just for the money, but end up doing things that they know absolutely nothing about. From starting a YouTube channel, a blog, a podcast, you name it, so many of us try these things because SOME one on some YouTube channel said that you could make great money (in record time) doing it. So in 2021, I started a YouTube channel. Two, actually. But because I’m what some might call an “extreme introvert” I hated both. I don’t like getting in front of a camera, let alone talking to it. It just felt weird. So after growing one channel to 6000+ subscribers (not that the number matters), I quit. Cold turkey. Well…I the truth of the matter is that I told myself that I was going to take a month ‘off’. But never ended up going back. I feel a certain level of guilt for doing all that work, then tossing it, but even the thought of being on camera makes me physically ill. Then I tried doing UGC on TikTok. Hated it. Again…extreme introversion. AND the fact that I can’t stand social media didn’t help. That lasted about a week and a half. Even flogging someone else’s product, I don’t wanna be on camera. But I love to write. It doesn’t require that I do anything but sit on my laptop, and let my fingers run over the keys. Pure bliss. When I found out that I could actually write about topics that I enjoy, and people would BUY what I write??! Euphoria! I love the writing process. When it comes to creating eBooks, not only do I enjoy writing, but creating the eBook covers?? I’m so enamoured with the power of a few keystrokes when it comes to programs like Canva, as well as the many AI image creators. At the moment, Bing Creator is one of my faves (it’s free), especially for food images (but that’s a subject for another post). I learned to build blogs and eCommerce stores when the devil was in diapers (a very long time ago), but using a site like Gumroad (and even Amazon) has been super easy. It’s not worth all of the design time it takes to build a site from scratch, when I can simply upload my product/images, and ‘Bob’s your uncle’. I actually created an eBook about that process. And of course, you can find it on Gumroad! If you’re thinking that you might want to create a digital product, but think you have to build out a whole website to sell those products, head to Gumroad. You don’t have to pay anything up front, but they do take a percentage of your product sales. Stop hesitating. Get writing! If you want to check out my book on how to create your own digital products and sell them online, check out my eBook, Digital Product Payday. You can grab it on…guess where?? 🙂 Happy writing! * * * * * * I am UnMarketable. I help business owners get off the ‘social media hamster wheel’ and make more money with platforms that they OWN.
